The Geobike trip takes you through anorthosite landscapes, starting from the beautiful town of Egersund with its wooden houses, continuing to Eige at the highest point of the tour and following the coastline to Hellvik. The trip teaches you about the geology of the area, from the formation of the anorthosite to the effects of the Ice Age.
Geobike Egersund (Duration: 3-5 hours)
Magma Geopark offers excellent possibilities for cycling thanks to its small roads and low volume of traffic. The Geobike tour around Egersund takes you to see the unique geology and the effects of Ice Age in a beautiful setting. The route is approximately 27 kilometers and offers many places where you can take a break and enjoy the scenery. During the tour you will learn about the geology in the area and become familiar with the local culture and history while exercising. Some of the route follows the old railway tracks through coastal landscapes and past small lakes. On the way you will see signs of the Ice Age having affected the landscape, such as impressive erratic blocks and an impressive moraine ridge – St. Olav´s Serpent. The highest point on the Geobike tour is 150 meters above sea level and provides a good view of a large part of Magma Geopark.
