Ankerhus mines are the oldest ilmenite mines in Eigersund municipality and in Magma Geopark. Not many people have been to these mines and heard the many exciting stories about the mining activities here in the 18th and 19th centuries. Now the stories will be brought to light and the area will be made much more accessible in collaboration with landowner Håvard Husveg. The first thing we have done so fare is to secure a dangerous place with a new fence so people and animals can walk here without danger. What is happening now is the establishment of a car park and a marked path through the terrain, where you get the opportunity to look at the various mines. There will also be a small pedestrian bridge to make a more easy access to this culturally and geologically very exciting place. Then the first signboards will be put up in June and eventually a brochure will also be made
Then we are in the process of establishing Ankerhus visitor mines
