On Thursday 22nd of April Frode Johannessen (Smaabyen Flekkefjord) and Cathrine Johannessen (Magma Geopark) were invited to present the projects UNESCO2030 and Ruritage to the municipality board of Lund. UNESCO2030 is mainly the local implementation of the EU project Ruritage. The project is a result of solid work done by Flekkefjord municipality over years, aiming at developing the tourism in Flekkefjord. Generously shared with the other 4 municipalities in Magma Geopark, this, together with the Ruritage project, aim at developing rural areas based on natural and cultural heritage. This is the recipe for a fruitful cooperation between the five municipalities in Magma Geopark. The main goal is to develop the geographical area of Magma UNESCO Global Geopark into a year-round, sustainable tourism destination.Lund municipality is focusing forward – and they are positive to the work being done by UNESCO2030/Ruritage. They are active contributors and have started the local work of developing their 4 tourism highlights. They also focus on facilitate new ideas for local businesses and existing partners within the local tourism business.We look forward to further collaboration!
