The lighthouse, which dates from 1854, is located in the sea gap, a short drive from Egersund town centre, and is part of the Magma UNESCO Global Geopark due to its unique lunar landscape. On the way to the lighthouse, you'll experience beautiful coastal scenery on a well-maintained road. Today, the factory premises are used as a shopping centre: Alti Eikunda - and on the top floor you'll find the museum containing old fayance treasures. In autumn, it's time for the grand Oktoberfest, and not least when Christmas arrives, it's time for the Christmas Town. Egersund has repeatedly been voted Norway's best Christmas town, renowned for its unique atmosphere in the old wooden houses, nearly 100 stalls, smells, tastes, and genuine Christmas spirit. Each stone is laid in tension against the others, and the weight is distributed evenly down into the foundation.
