The idyll characterises the town with its beautiful and historic wooden buildings. Did you know that Egersund has one of Norway's best-preserved wooden buildings? Learn and see more of this beautiful town by using the new cultural trail with town history signs. Guided tour at Egersund Fayancemuseum<\/a>, with its exhibition and puppet theatre, is the perfect starting point for a city walk. You can also finish by enjoying the view from Varberg, which is the city mountain that gives you beautiful views in all directions. Fantastic views of the city, the harbour entrance and large parts of the district. On the way up, you should stop at the rock carvings from the Late Bronze Age.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While we're on the subject of history, are you in the mood for more fresh air combined with plenty of history? Pay a visit to Eiger\u00f8y fyrstasjon<\/a>. The lighthouse, which dates from 1854, is located in the sea gap, a short drive from Egersund town centre, and is part of the Magma UNESCO Global Geopark due to its unique lunar landscape. On the way to the lighthouse, you'll experience beautiful coastal scenery on a well-maintained road. Overnight stays at the lighthouse keeper's residence are also possible!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The faience town of Egersund<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Egersund Fayancemuseum is part of Dalane Folk Museum<\/a> and is centrally located in the old factory premises where Egersund Fayancefabrik \/ Egersunds Potteri was located from 1847-1979. Today, the factory premises are used as a shopping centre: Alti Eikunda - and on the top floor you'll find the museum containing old fayance treasures.
