Julebyen Egersund

Surrounded by small wooden houses and a cozy atmosphere, you will find the Christmas town with smells, tastes and sounds that will put you in the right mood. Julebyen has been named Norway's best Christmas market several times.

Organized annually over two weekends, Thursday through Sunday, at the turn of the month November - December. Julebyen is an event in Egersund modeled after the German Christmas markets. The first Christmas town was organized in 2004. Since then, it has become an annual event and the event has grown significantly.

The story

The idea came in 2003 after a small notice in the newspaper that a town in England that had great success with its Christmas market.

When something as distant as Great Britain and Germany can come together in such a tradition, what about the wooden town of Egersund, someone thought - and contacted Lufthansa, which just then opened a new route from Stavanger to Frankfurt. Is it possible to get some of the ticket sponsored if we send a study group now before Christmas? Sure enough, they fell for the idea and splurged on all the tickets.
