Egersund Fayancemuseum

Open year-round Fayance Museum. For 132 years, the factory in Egersund supplied the Norwegian people with stoneware both for everyday use and for parties. Through the extensive production, currents within the world of art and fashion are reflected for a long period.

Egersund Fayancemuseum is a museum linked to the production of Egersund Fayancefabrik (1847 – 1979).

The factory was founded in 1847 under the name Egersunds Potteri. The founder Johan Feyer had himself learned pottery through studies in Newcastle upon Tyne. Within a short time, the factory developed into Norway's largest stoneware producer.

After the factory was closed in 1979, Dalane Folkemuseum took over the factory's archive and collection of objects. This forms the foundation of Egersund Fayancemuseum, which was established in 1986. In 2010, Egersund Fayancemuseum moved to new modern premises in Fabrikkgaten 2 where the old factory used to be.
