Plan your trip to Hidra

Hidra is the place where Southern Norway meets Western Norway. In short: striking scenery, beautiful cultural landscapes, a number of ancient monuments and coastal culture.

Hidra has just under 600 permanent residents. Here you'll find plenty of accommodation, a general store, the brewery restaurant Isbua, the café Bakrommet and Fedrenes Minne, an exciting coastal museum.

Attractions

The gray goose

For a great view of the island, we recommend a trip to Hågåsen. Here you'll find an old coastal battery from the war, and you'll get a panoramic view of Kirkehamn and the sea beyond. The walk up takes about 30 minutes on foot from the car park. Remember to bring a picnic basket - the summit is perfect for a break with a view!

Hidra church

This beautiful wooden church from 1854 is beautifully situated by the sea in Kirkehamn. It's a great stop for history buffs and offers a peaceful, beautiful environment.

The memory of the springs

A small but rich museum that tells the story of life on Hidra through the generations. Here you get an insight into fishing, shipping and everyday life.

Race wave

A charming old fishing village with a marina, cosy houses and idyllic surroundings. Here you can stroll in the harbour, eat fresh seafood and experience the tranquil coastal life.

Great hiking areas

Hidra has varied and easily accessible hiking terrain with signposted trails, coastal landscapes and woodlands. There are also good swimming opportunities on warm days.
