Odlandshølen

Easy trip in Bjerkreim, 1-3 hours

Geology

This locality is located entirely within the layered Bjerkreim – Sokndal intrusion, and on the north side of a large folded structure. On the south side of Ørsdalsvatnet lies a steep rock face that exposes many angular boulders enclosed in coarse-grained mass. Along the way on this route you can see a great example of a fracture that has been eroded and ground down into a round cave. This type of smooth erosion surface can only be produced by flowing water, and was formed at the end of the last ice age when huge amounts of water flowed under the melting ice.

Det er flott utsikt over landskapet fra toppen av bakken på Hytland.
