You'll explore the island of Hidra by bike with a local guide, enjoy a seafood lunch by the water, and round off the day with a fun and engaging activity on the historic Flekkefjord railway. 09:00 - Departure from the hotel in Flekkefjord
09:25 - Parking at the ferry terminal at Kvellandstrand. Free ferry to Launes on Hidra.
09:45 - Guided bike tour of Hidra with Opplev Hidra, including Hågåsen and Kirkehamn

Adventurous island exploration - nature, history and community
After a short and beautiful ferry ride from the mainland, idyllic Hidra awaits - known as the pearl of Southern Norway. This is where the adventure on two wheels begins! Hire bikes and a guide via Opplev Hidra (opplevhidra.no) for a safe, educational and fun trip that suits the whole group. The guide will take you through the island's beautiful landscape, along quiet roads and through small local communities.
Along the way, you'll visit Hågåsen Fort, where young and old alike can climb up to the viewpoint and experience history up close. You'll hear fascinating stories about war, defence and life on Hidra in earlier times, while enjoying panoramic views of the sea and archipelago.
The tour continues to Kirkehamn, a vibrant fishing village where you'll get an insight into the island's proud fishing history - you might even see boats coming in with the day's catch. This is a tour that offers movement, learning and good conversations along the way.
Seafood delights and southern idyll at the pier
When hunger strikes, a tasty lunch awaits you at Isbua - a charming restaurant located right on the waterfront in Kirkehamn. Here you can enjoy fresh seafood, local dishes and homemade classics in a maritime atmosphere. The restaurant has a relaxed and cosy atmosphere, perfect for both small and large groups. While you eat, you can follow life on the pier, listen to the cries of seagulls and feel the sea air. Isbua also has an exciting history, and the staff are happy to share little stories.

Cycling and island life
After lunch, the tour continues by bike to Rasvåg, another charming village on Hidra. Here you can explore small shops, perhaps buy local ice cream or souvenirs, and experience the tranquil island life. The ride back to Launes offers several opportunities for small stops, play and exploration. The route provides a safe environment for both children and adults, and there is always something new to discover in nature or along the way.
Activity, laughter and nature experiences for the whole group
When you return to the mainland, a new highlight awaits: dresin cycling on the historic Flekkefjord railway! Here, you'll pedal customised bikes on the train tracks through beautiful southern landscapes, dark tunnels and over old bridges. The activity offers excitement, co-operation and lots of laughter - perfect for families and groups of friends of all ages. Along the way, you can stop to take photos, explore nature or have a little picnic.
A flavourful ending in warm surroundings
The day is rounded off with dinner at Elva Bistro, the restaurant at Maritim Fjordhotel. Here you can enjoy flavoursome dishes made from local ingredients in a warm and modern atmosphere overlooking the river. The menu is suitable for both adults and children, and the staff provide a cosy and relaxed setting. This is the perfect place to share the day's experiences, lower your shoulders and enjoy good food together.
