Jøssingfjord viewpoint - History written in the landscape

Along the Norwegian Scenic Route Jæren, the road winds its way down towards Jøssingfjord, revealing sheer rock walls, narrow fjord arms and traces of centuries of industrial activity. From the viewpoint you can see Titania's drying plant, the fjord landscape and geological layers visible in the mountainsides. There are toilets here and further improvements for visitors are planned. A stop that provides a powerful encounter with the landscape that has shaped life in Sokndal.

Tunellstuo - A resting place with character

A hidden gem: historic tunnel, quiet moments and dramatic surroundings

If you wish, you can take a short walk to the old tunnel from 1921, now converted into a charming resting place for cyclists and hikers. With a fire pit, simple seating and hooks carved into the rock for hammocks, it's a truly unique place to take a break. The view of the Migaren waterfall adds to the atmosphere, creating a mix of nostalgia and adventure. Hammocks can be hired on site.

Helleren houses - Life under the mountain

A unique cultural monument: 18th-century home protected by the mountain

A short walk from the museum are the famous Helleren houses, two well-preserved wooden houses sheltered under a natural mountain overhang. They stand unroofed under the mountain, sheltered from rain and weather. Although they are closed, you can peek inside and imagine the lives of the families who lived here. One of Norway's most iconic cultural monuments.
