This day is perfect for those interested in culture, history, architecture and geology. You'll experience charming wooden houses, street art and stories from both the city of Flekkefjord and the island of Hidra.

Flekkefjord Fire Engine Museum

A nostalgic journey among red heroes

Visit one of Norway's most unique museums, a tribute to the history of the fire service in Flekkefjord. Here you'll find an impressive collection of fire engines and equipment from the 1930s to the present day, all manufactured in Flekkefjord and all in active service in the town before they were retired.

The museum is part of Flekkefjord Museum and offers both nostalgia and powerful stories for young and old.

Hidra, Hågåsen and Kirkehamn

An idyllic island, military history and vibrant coastal culture

After lunch, the tour continues to beautiful Hidra, an island known for its varied coastal landscape and rich history. At Hågåsen, you'll get a guided tour of the old defence facilities from the Napoleonic Wars, with magnificent views of the sea and archipelago. Here you'll hear about dramatic events, strategic importance and the everyday lives of the soldiers who guarded the coast.

The tour continues to Kirkehamn, one of southern Norway's best-preserved fishing villages. Here you'll learn about the island's proud fishing history and traditions and meet members of the vibrant island community.

Grand Gastro, Grand Hotel Flekkefjord

Historical elegance and culinary highlights

13:15 - Departure from Flekkefjord to Kvellandstrand and ferry to Hidra

Distances

Egersund to Sogndalstrand is approximately 30 km (45 minutes).
Sogndalstrand to Flekkefjord is approximately 40 kilometres (60 minutes).

Transport

We recommend travelling by car or motorcycle. For larger groups it is also possible to hire a bus.

Season

The tour is best suited to spring, summer and autumn. Roads can be slippery in winter.
