Project: Magma UNESCO2030

Magma UNESCO2030 is a 3-year tourism project with the aim of raising the UNESCO status of the municipalities in the Magma UNESCO Global Geopark: Eigersund, Flekkefjord, Sokndal, Bjerkreim and Lund.

Goal

Main goals

Magma UNESCO2030 will develop the region into a sustainable, year-round tourism destination. Stakeholders are working together to develop attractive offers and tourism infrastructure that provides more year-round traffic and increased local value creation.

Sub-goals

  • The tourism industry will be developed and treated as a growth industry in all UNESCO municipalities.
  • We will make decisions based on measurable results to increase efficiency and value creation.
  • We will create and implement a forward-looking strategy for the digital transformation of tourism in the UNESCO municipalities in order to provide
  • customised experiences for our guests.
  • We will provide tourism operators in the UNESCO municipalities with expertise as a tool for development, innovation and increased earnings.

Main deliveries

  • Strategy for digital transformation of the tourism industry.
  • Six tourism courses completed with an average of at least 20 participants per course.
  • At least three well-developed niche products.
  •  
  • 20 tourist beacons that alone, and together, provide "reason to go".
  • Through digital surveys, retailers get to know their visitors and tailor their products to their needs.

Eigersund Industry and Harbour

Eigersund Næring og Havn will ensure that the municipality has a competitive, environmentally friendly and unified business programme. This also includes responsibility for developing the focus on tourism and land development for business. The company is also responsible for the management and development of the municipality's sea areas.

Magma Geopark

Magma Geopark is part of a network of more than 160 UNESCO Global Geoparks in 40 different countries and on 5 continents, and representatives from these meet regularly.
