A culinary experience

The restaurant was originally a dairy and is consistently decorated with old artifacts and antiques from the dairy operations and private homes from the mid-1800s. In the cozy and intimate atmosphere, we create a cultural experience of both culinary and visual character.

We serve everything from traditional farmhouse fare to the finest banquet dishes, prepared with local ingredients from the forest, mountains, and fjords. Choose from freshly baked pancakes, juicy Hereford beef from cattle that graze in the high mountains during summer and in the valley during spring and autumn, our popular meatcakes, trout, sour cream porridge, or other dishes from the menu.

Behind the restaurant you will also find a charming bakery with baked goods made according to old recipes. Here you can enjoy a cup of coffee and fresh buns, before taking a loaf of bread with you on the way. Byrkjedalsbrødet is our signature bread.
