Flekkefjordbanen – Fun for the whole family!

Welcome to rail biking on the old Flekkefjord Line. A unique experience for the whole family, group of friends, or team-building with colleagues.

Cycling on the 17 km long Flekkefjord track between Flekkefjord and Sira is a bit of an adventure ride, which offers both fantastic scenery and fascinating architecture. The bikes are tandem bikes, which are called exercise bikes and track bikes, where two people ride while an adult or two children can sit on them. A helmet is mandatory, and it is also a good idea to bring a powerful flashlight.

Remember to bring drinks and snacks for the trip, and perhaps a jacket for the cold tunnels. There are benches and tables as well as a WC at the water tower at Flikkeid. In the years 1904 to 1990, the Flekkefjord railway was an important transport artery. The railway connected the center of Flekkefjord with the Sørlandsbanen and was an important means of communication for the population. On New Year's Eve 1990, the last rail bus went from Flekkefjord to Sira and a railway era was over. The Friends of Flekkefjordbanen works to preserve the track section and has developed it into a protected cultural monument under the motto "Cultural preservation through active use".

Rail biking on this stretch has become incredibly popular among both tourists and businesses. The activity is suitable for people of all ages. The Flekkefjord Line traverses a stunning and diverse landscape, showcasing its impressive construction, including all 17 tunnels.
