Few people can play the organ like Iver Kleive. He has been playing the organ since the early 1970s and has worked extensively as a studio musician, accompanist, composer, soloist and conductor. He has also led the Oslo Bach Choir for 30 years and has made countless recordings. In 2017, Iver Kleive was appointed Knight 1st Class of the Order of St Olav for his contribution to Norwegian musical life.
Knut Reiersrud has also been active since the 1970s, and has developed his own unique expression with elements from many forms of music. He is an award-winning guitarist and composer and is internationally recognised for his many collaborations with other artists. What makes Reiersrud unique, however, is his ability to always be relevant and surprisingly innovative. He also has a very impressive catalogue of recordings in the West. About 300 in fact!
Together, Kleive & Reiersrud have released two discs that have been awarded the Spellemannsprisen in the open category. On the first, Blå Koral (1991), the duo explores hymns and religious folk tunes in an open-minded and down-to-earth way. An elegant follow-up came in 1996 in the form of the album Himmelskip (Sky Ship), which was recorded live in St Knuds Church in Odense, with folk singer Povl Dissing as guest vocalist on one of the tracks. The third album 'Nåde over Nåde' (Grace over Grace) was released in 2006 and the latest album 'Natt i Desember' (Night in December) was released in 2018. In addition to the guitar, organ and vocals, the church space itself makes this recording both powerful and present. We look forward to experiencing the meeting between these two outstanding musicians.
