Martin Skage Møhlen Bakken has his first solo exhibition at Galleri Guldbrandsen. The local artist may be better known as a musician here at home, but is now bringing his paintings to Flekkefjord.

The artist works with abstract-expressionist, monochrome ink paintings and explores the balance between control and natural forces. He uses the movement of water, weather and his surroundings as his brush. In this exhibition, he presents a collection of ink and acrylic paintings that explore the meeting between impressions, experience and man's own interpretation.

«Everything I've learnt about music, rhythm, composition - I've thrown it at the canvas. I unleash a storm of water and blue ink - French, of course - the only pigment that refuses to behave. In a way it's a beautiful collaboration, in another way it's like a manipulative boyfriend who always gets the last word.»
