Guided tours at Egersund Fayancemuseum, with an exhibition is an excellent starting point for a city walk.

While we're on the subject of history, are you in the mood for more fresh air combined with plenty of history? Pay a visit to Eigerøy fyrstasjon. The lighthouse, which dates from 1854, is located in the sea gap, a short drive from Egersund town centre, and is part of the Magma UNESCO Global Geopark due to its unique lunar landscape. On the way to the lighthouse, you'll experience beautiful coastal scenery on a well-maintained road. Overnight stays at the lighthouse keeper's residence are also possible!

The faience town of Egersund

Egersund Fayancemuseum is part of Dalane Folk Museum and is centrally located in the old factory premises where Egersund Fayancefabrik / Egersunds Potteri was located from 1847-1979. Today, the factory premises are used as a shopping centre: Alti Eikunda - and on the top floor you'll find the museum containing old fayance treasures. Book a guided tour and learn more about the city's history.

Colourful festivals

In Egersund, you can experience both the Dalane Blues Festival and Norway's oldest folk song festival every single summer. In autumn, it's time for the grand Oktoberfest, and not least when Christmas arrives, it's time for the Christmas Town. Egersund has repeatedly been voted Norway's best Christmas town, renowned for its unique atmosphere in the old wooden houses, nearly 100 stalls, smells, tastes, and genuine Christmas spirit. Six stone bridges worth visiting in Egersund

Most of the bridges are built with arches, one of the most robust construction methods in history. Each stone is laid in tension against the others, and the weight is distributed evenly down into the foundation. That's why the bridges are still standing strong, even without mortar, and have withstood weather, time and heavy loads.
