Bodyhang
In 2017, anyone who followed Frank Øverland on Instagram and Facebook could see that a glow had grown in him. Suddenly, the images of his bass guitar, motorbikes and everyday life were replaced by unique paintings under the name "bodyhang". The series of images features famous people and other motifs hanging in a very special way. The images received an enormous response, and so began the artistic journey. In 2019, Øverland started his own gallery - Frank-Rike.
Abstract and figurative art
The gallery is located at Elvegaten 11 and is Frank Øverland's own artistic kingdom. Frank-Rike contains images from the popular bodyhang series, where famous people are in focus, but also a lot of other abstract and figurative art.
Their own space
In connection with the opening of the gallery, the artist told Agder newspaper:
- This is my space. A gallery, a warehouse, a place where I now want to paint. The living room at home became so full of pictures that I couldn't invite people in. There were pictures everywhere. Now I have a separate space for this, my own space.
With a twinkle in the eye
Øverland has a humorous view of his business:
- "Those who know me say there must be something really weird in my head. My art is all over the place, but I'm happy that I dare to do this - dare to show it off. I stepped out of the box and created more abstract art, which is not normally my style, but when it gets applause and customers, it feels incredible," he says.
There is a lot of variety. In the gallery, you'll find motifs of all kinds: a street in Venice, a rose, a military helicopter, famous rock artists, big cities, the abstract - yes, it may be a bit special in Øverland's mind, but that may be exactly why he finally dares to call himself an artist.
Frank Øverland's art is guaranteed to put a smile on your face, while at the same time giving you the occasional hangover or making you think a little. Here you'll find everything from the detailed and figurative to the abstract. Bring your family or friends - it's guaranteed to be a great experience!
