Experience traces of historical mining in Blåfjelldalen with an audio-guided tour!
This hike takes you 3.5 kilometers into the Blåfjelldalen valley to the Blåfjell mines. Along the way, you follow a gravel road through a culturally historical landscape shaped by the mining industry that once left its mark on the valley. The hike is suitable for the whole family.
The Blåfjell Mines are one of several historic mines in the Magma UNESCO Global Geopark. The unique geology of the area laid the foundation for the extraction of iron ore from ilmenite in the Blåfjell Mines between 1863 and 1875. Today, walls, mine shafts and remains of the railway line testify to a time when the Blåfjell Valley was an important industrial area.
