Fallow deer have been a sign of sailing since Viking times.
With its white-painted top, it is the sailing mark
to this day.
In Olav the Saint's saga we can read: "Coal-black ships In hard sailing rushed forward The sea of the doe down Lista Inside the harbour in Eikundasund the sea lay black with large ships." Follow county road 33. There is a car park by the road. The walk out to Hådyr takes around 45 minutes. The reward is a spectacular view.
