#finnhodet or #hiddenheads is a project Christian Sunde started on Instagram in 2017, but the head project itself is much older. Out in nature, in the countryside, in towns and cities - the artist from Flekkefjord has placed small iron heads in secret places around Norway and abroad. Join us on a head hunt!
Pandemic and tours
During the pandemic, things really took off! 2020, the year we had to be together at a distance, stay at home and participate in a long and demanding endeavour. During this period, many people discovered their neighbourhoods with new eyes. The iron heads symbolise cooperation and unity throughout this special year. Places that bring us together The very purpose of the iron heads is to make us enjoy our surroundings, whether we are young, old, couch potatoes, disabled or healthy. The heads can be found throughout the municipality, from north to south and east to west. City, village, fjord, mountain and island are all represented. Some of the heads are located in familiar places, others in places where few people have been before. Many are also placed along old transport routes, precisely because they link us together.
Available for everyone
All the iron heads are hidden in safe places so that nobody gets hurt during the search. The heads vary in difficulty, so you don't have to be a keen hiker to go searching. More than 20 iron heads can be found in Flekkefjord town centre alone.
One head per child in 2020 - There are exactly 107 iron heads hidden around Flekkefjord municipality (as of 2020), one for every child born in Flekkefjord municipality in the coronavirus year 2020. The material itself, iron, is also important - it is durable and strong. The rust reminds us of the passing of time, without us forgetting.
#finhead or #hiddenheads
#finnkopf is a project Christian Sunde started on Instagram in 2017, but the actual head project is much older, says the artist:
"I set up the first head a long, long time ago, and since then there have been many of them both in Norway and around the world. Only a fraction have been documented in the #finn head project, but new additions are constantly appearing."
