Tunnelstuo is a spectacular place to stay in a disused tunnel built in 1921. From the light opening by the large stone table, you have a view of Jøssingfjord and the valley surrounded by steep mountainsides.
For hikers who like short walks, there are 10 marked hiking trails from 1 to 5 hours, here you can experience the "lunar landscape". One of these hikes is up to "Fladen", a short but steep hike up 434 steps that goes up a trolley railway built in 1918. This hike gives you a fantastic view of the entire fjord. There is an information board about the tours at the viewpoint. Jøssingfjord is also a paradise for rock climbers. The most popular climbing areas are Hedlersfjellet and Profilveggen.
Only a few minutes' walk down from the viewing platform are: The houses under the "Helleren" at the very heart of the fjord. The pit is 10 m deep and 60 m long. The houses are several hundred years old and stand on protected land. The archaeologists have found remains of people who lived here over 6,000 years ago. The houses are open to visitors and it is important that great care and respect for the place is shown.
Tunnelstuo is also a rest area for cyclists and you can cycle through it. If you come by car, there is a car park up by the viewing platform, where there are toilets and rubbish bins. From the car park, follow Fv 44 down to the tunnel approx. 300 meters.
