Hawk's knot at Kjørmo

Hawk knot

Høgeknuten was one of the four expert trails in the StikkUT! competition in 2025. The hike is 9.8km long and you have to overcome 804 meters in altitude. The hike is marked as “Expert”, which means that the hike is suitable for experienced mountaineers, with good physique, strength and endurance, as well as good hiking equipment and good knowledge of maps and compasses.

About your trip

The hike to Høgeknuten can be demanding, but at the top you will be rewarded with an impeccable view of Urdalsvatnet, Glessjor, Birkedalsvatnet and Ualand. A beautiful cairn marks the summit.

It is possible to start from Eigelandsdalen in Eigersund or Rusdal in Hovsherad (Lund). When you start from the power station in Rusdal, just off county road 4258, you first go to Brekkebekken, before the climb begins. The hike is on a gravel road where you follow the road uphill. At Brekketjørna you leave the road and start the climb to Bleikheia. The narrow and open heath offers magnificent views and fairly easy terrain, when you get up from the valley. The landscape is open and nice to walk in. The cairn at Høgeknuten soon points towards the horizon. We recommend a good break before returning the same way.

There are grazing animals on this trip.
