Mastrasanden

A boating area that also has access from the mainland.

Mastrasanden is an idyllic and popular bathing area that offers a great nature experience both on foot and by boat. The beach is part of a private property and has been available for outdoor recreation since 1972 through a lease agreement with the municipality. From the car park, it's a delightful 15-minute walk to the beach, and along the way you can enjoy the beautiful scenery.

Mastrasanden is one of the largest sandy beaches along the Dalarna coast, and together with neighbouring beaches such as Skadbergsanden and Ærevik, it offers a varied and exciting landscape. Here you can experience a dynamic environment where the waves constantly shape the beach, and small pebbles, shells and kelp pods can appear after storms. The dunes provide a home for salt-tolerant vegetation and provide a stable environment.

The beach is important for wildlife, especially as a resting and grazing area for migratory birds, and the seaweed and kelp washed ashore provide food for bugs and insects that attract wading birds. Mastrasanden is a perfect place for outdoor recreation, with fantastic views and rich wildlife.

Visit Mastrasanden

It's about a 15-minute walk from the car park to the beach. Just east of Mastrasanden itself are some beautiful, pebbly shingle beaches. These are private and are not organised, but they can of course be used in accordance with the provisions of the Outdoor Recreation Act.
