Oldemors Hage is a pleasant summer café, while Oldemors Hus is a restaurant that is open for bookings the rest of the year. This is an offer for everyone who comes by – whether you are passing through or want to take a break in beautiful surroundings. Oldemors Hus can be found at Roligheten in Åna-Sira.
Great-grandmother's house
At Oldemors Hus, dialect is part of the experience. The stories, menus and communication are written in the local dialect. It is an important part of the place's identity and a small contribution to preserving the local cultural heritage.
Oldemors Hus offers a unique combination of history and food. Here, time is turned back a hundred years, to the happy and fashionable 1920s. A house from 1910 is decorated in a contemporary style. The menu is inspired by a cookbook from 1924, further developed with advice from some of Norway's leading chefs and based on seasonal local ingredients. Each dish has a story and is linked to people, events or traditions from Åna-Sira.
With white tablecloths, historic tableware and an atmosphere that takes you back in time, everything is in place for a very special dining experience.
Oldemors Hus is open for pre-booked parties. Separate events with open registrations are also planned. Information about these is published on the Facebook page of Oldemors Hage and Oldemors Hus.
Great-Grandmother's Garden
Every summer, Oldemors Hage opens outside Oldemors Hus. The garden is an informal meeting place where both residents and visitors gather to enjoy the summer days in beautiful surroundings. This is an atmospheric garden café where homemade food, good prices and live music are on the menu.
Concerts, gourmet experiences, theme nights, bazaars, family events and other activities are arranged throughout the season. The program varies from year to year, and surprises and new events often appear along the way.
Oldemors Hage is somewhat weather-dependent, and opening hours are adjusted to the weather and season. Therefore, we recommend following Oldemors Hage and Oldemors Hus on Facebook for updated information about opening hours, events and ticket sales.
Great-grandmother's wine cellar
The atmospheric wine cellar has room for up to 16 guests, or around 20 if you sit close together.
The wine cellar can be reserved for groups of a minimum of eight people. Here you can order a wine tasting with carefully selected snacks, or gather for a good glass of wine in historic surroundings. The wine selection ranges from good everyday wines to more exclusive bottles, so there is something to suit most people.
Whether you visit Oldemor's Hus for an evening of storytelling and food or an evening in the wine cellar, the goal is the same: to give you a dining experience where history, local ingredients and the uniqueness of the place take center stage.
