Priscilla Presley's place in Egersund

– a small memory with a big story

In the middle of the charming wooden houses on Kirkegaten in Egersund lies a small monument with a big history. In the granite in the street is the name "Priscilla Presleysplass" - a tribute to the family ties between the world-famous Priscilla Presley and Egersund.

The story begins with Albert Henry Iversen, who was born in Egersund in 1899. He later emigrated to the United States, where he married Lorraine. Together they had a daughter, Anna Lillian, who became the mother of Priscilla Presley, known as Elvis Presley's ex-wife.

Thus, Priscilla Presley has roots in Egersund through her maternal grandfather. It is well known that she has several relatives in the city, and her family history ties her closely to the old town environment.

Church Street 23 is a central place in this story. This is where Albert Henry Iversen was born, in one of the white-painted wooden houses that characterize the historic street. Several other houses in Kirkegaten can also be linked to the family and tell of the family's connection to Egersund.

The memorial stone in the street makes history visible to both residents and visitors. Although there is no separate museum dedicated to Albert Henry Iversen and his life, the small marker gives passersby an opportunity to stop and reflect on how a family story from a Norwegian coastal town became connected to some of the world's most famous names in popular culture.

Do you want to see the house and the star in the street? Then just head to Kirkegaten when you embark on a city walk through Egersund's colorful wooden houses. Here you can experience the historic buildings up close and at the same time find the memorial stone that connects the city to Priscilla Presley and Elvis Presley's family history.

Priscilla Presley's place is therefore more than a name in granite. It reminds us of emigration from Norway, of family ties across the Atlantic, and of how even a small street in Egersund can contain a history of international connections.
