The hike to Hellvik Geita is a perfect little excursion for the whole family. It's easy to follow, well signposted and offers both nature and a fun landmark that both children and adults love to visit.
From the car park at Lunhulen, you'll find a large notice board and clear signs pointing the way. Follow the gravel road along the railway for about 400 metres before turning right over the railway bridge. After the bridge, turn immediately right again and walk back about 300 metres - now on the opposite side of the railway. The signs for «Varberg» point you in the right direction all the way.
Where the gravel road meets the path, follow the red marking into the terrain. The surface is mostly dry and easy to walk on, but some parts may be slightly damp. Waterproof footwear can therefore be an advantage.
On the way up, you'll quickly gain a few metres of altitude, just enough to give the kids the feeling of a real summit. After a short climb, the Hellvik Goat appears - a unique rock formation that some creative souls have given both horns and tail. The result is a fun and charming «goat» that stands strategically placed and looks out over the terrain.
Right by Hellvik Geita, a beautiful view opens up towards Hellviksvatnet and further towards the coast. It's a small area where you can sit down, take a break and enjoy the surroundings without the hike being long or demanding.
