About Bringedal

Bringedal was originally a farm associated with the church, but all operations were shut down in 1949. The area was later sold and is now used as a hiking destination. The walk up to the old moorland farm is child-friendly and follows a good forest road. Along the way you'll pass old mill houses, waterfalls and beautiful scenery. The two largest waterfalls are called "Store Helvete" (Big Hell) and "Lille Helvete" (Little Hell), names derived from a tragic event in the 18th century.

The area is home to old quartz veins and it is rumoured that there is also chalcopyrite and gold. At Bringedalstjørn, little remains of the buildings, but the stone walls and staircase still standing bear witness to a former life. Nearby you'll find a stone bridge, the remains of a mill house, an old homestead and large clearance trenches - traces of what was once a viable mountain farm.

About Bringedalshytta

Bringedalshytta is open and can be used by everyone. There is a wood-burning stove in the centre room.
A fire pit is placed at the foot of the stairs up to the cabin.
Toilet in the outbuilding that is passed just before the cabin.

The forest on the other side of the stream/down towards the water can be exciting to explore for young hikers. Here you'll also find a shelter down by the pond, at the outlet of the stream.
