Fredsvarden - Majestic view with a symbol of peace

At the top of Myssa in Sokndal, majestically enthroned above beautiful nature, you will find Fredsvarden. More than just a cairn, this is a symbol of peace and a popular destination for visitors from across the region.

Fredsvarden in Sokndal is more than just a cairn. It is made of stones from all of Norway's municipalities and Assisi in Italy. It was first lit on 4 October by Erik Solheim. It is a symbol of peace and a great starting point for exploring the beautiful nature in the area. From the top of the cairn you have a fantastic view.

The hike up to Fredsvarden is 0.6 kilometres long. It is a moderately difficult hike with a climb of approximately 200 metres. The hike is well marked and there are several places where you can stop to rest and enjoy the view.

When you have visited Fredsvarden, you can choose to either go back down or continue to Rauberknuten. Here you will get a magnificent view of Myssa, Omdal and Mydland. You can then choose to go back the same way, or follow the path further down a steep section for a round trip.
