Contrarily – Mount Fløy

In the middle of the city

Kontrari means "opposite" or "opposite the city". The name is relatively new. Previously, the mountain was known as Fløyfjellet, a name that comes from the fact that a wing has stood on the site for a long time. The actual peak of Kontrari is 106 meters above sea level, while the wing is located at a slightly lower point.

In 1999, the Tree Planting Company began work on clearing and preparing the path up to Kontrari and Fløyen. The hike to the top takes about 30 minutes.

Kontrari is located between Eide and Lindøya. The hike starts at Lindøyveien, where you follow the marked path up to the top. Here, a bench awaits, perfect for a short break and to enjoy the surroundings.

On the way back, you can stop by Fløyen. From here you get a fantastic view of Egersund, which spreads out below you.
