Marit Eik – international visual artist and designer.

Marit Eik has four years of academic art and design education and 40 years of experience in both visual arts and design,

After graduating, she became a member of NTKD, and achieved great success, especially in Japan, where several of her textile designs were purchased and produced. It is worth mentioning that in one year, more than 400,000 carpets designed by Marit Eik were sold.

In 1989, she was invited by Roald Bergsaker, then mayor of Sandnes, to participate in a collective art exhibition in Paris, France. Her work was discovered there by an art critic and she was offered a solo exhibition in a renowned gallery in the Latin Quarter of Paris. At this solo exhibition, where President Mitterand was also a guest, all 35 of her paintings were sold within a few days.

Former President François Mitterrand is not the only famous figure to have recognized Egersunderen's work. At the Oslo Center for Peace and Human Rights, former Prime Minister Kjell Magne Bondevik and former Minister of Energy Einar Steensnæs have hung one of Eik's works: “Peace and Harmony”. Marit Eik has over the years had several solo exhibitions and participated in a number of collective exhibitions, including in Norway, France, Japan, New Zealand, the USA, England, Hong Kong, Tunisia, Spain, Singapore, Italy and Shanghai. Of the collective exhibitions in Norway, the most notable is “Kunstnernes Hus” in Oslo, and in several international collective exhibitions she has been the only Norwegian artist, including at the ”Van Gogh 100 years commemoration exhibition” in the world-famous Grand Palais, Champs Elysee, Paris, France. .

Marit Eik's painting "The Silent Scream" illustrates the chapter "Norway's Wergeland" in the Royal Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Royal Ministry of the Environment's 200th anniversary book about Henrik Wergeland. Her "True Love" design for the famous Steninge (Steninge Castle) became a bestseller in both Norway and Sweden.
