1: Trip to Eigerøy lighthouse

Eigersund municipality has turned Eigerøy lighthouse into a kind of coastal cultural center. The municipality, in collaboration with 22 landowners, has built a 2 kilometer long road leading out to the lighthouse building. A parking lot has been built with toilet facilities.

Eigerøy lighthouse was built in 1853–54 and is one of Europe's strongest and Norway's first cast iron lighthouse. A trip to Eigerøy lighthouse and accommodation in a lighthouse keeper's accommodation is perfect for those who want to enjoy nature in peace and quiet.

2: Visit the Trollpikken

Go on a hike and experience a very special rock formation. Trollpikken became world famous overnight in the summer of 2017. The characteristic rock formation just outside Egersund had over 25,000 visitors in 2025. There is a marked trail to Trollpikken. The hike in is a short hike (1.9 km) through typical Magma Unesco Geopark terrain, first on a gravel road and then on a trail.

4: Bike or hike along the Old Railway

The old Jær railway line between Hellvik and Maurholen has been adapted as a hiking/cycling route. The road winds between and through rocks and boulders and impressive stonework has been laid down in the old line. A great trip! Parking in Maurholen and at Launes.

Shopping in Egersund is a feast for the eyes, both inside and outside the shops. Shops in narrow streets with small old wooden houses and shopping malls almost next door. Egersund is known for shopping in a pleasant atmosphere and not least the good service in the shops

6: Vardberg Whiskey Tour

Each experience has its own unique story where you will learn about production methods, unique Norwegian ingredients and taste. You can choose between the Vardberg Whisky Tour, the Spirit of Berentsens Tour or the Gin Tasting Tour. You will experience the Whisky Hall and taste the different products in the Taste Centers. .

7: Visit Norway's only Faience Museum and get a tour of the Dalane Folk Museum

The Egersund Faience Museum displays a selection of artefacts from the factory's long history. The exhibitions also show how the faience factory was a cornerstone of Egersund town. Egersund Faience Museum is a department of Dalane Folkemuseum, the regional museum for Dalane. Dalane Folkemuseum has rich and extensive collections, with facilities spread throughout Dalane. The main facility is located at Slettebø near Egersund.

8: Bathe and enjoy the sun on Skadbergsanden

The largest bathing area in Eigersund municipality with over 500 metres of sandy beach and low sand dunes. The beach is shallow and a favourite among the locals. Great for the whole family. Toilet facilities. Large car park and easily accessible by car or bus from the city centre. HC car park. Ramp partly down to the beach. Follow Rv. 502, turn right after Eigerøy bridge, follow signs.

10: Egersund Church

In the center of the city, facing the sea, stands the beautiful Egersund Church. Stepping into this building is like taking a journey back in time and sensing the families' sense of community and life experiences. Egersund Church is a major landmark of over 400 years and the city's landmark building.

The church will be open for the summer from June 29th, Monday – Saturday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. In July, there will also be music sessions in the church from 12:00 pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
