Egersund - the colourful wooden house town

A leisurely start to the day, local flavours, warm hospitality and historic atmosphere
Grand Hotell is Rogaland's oldest hotel and has been in operation since 1878. With 101 unique hotel rooms, a restaurant, a wine and cocktail bar, a wine cellar and a first-class kitchen, you get a modern hotel experience in historic surroundings.
The rooms are different and characterised by the era in which they were built, and many regular guests have their favourite room that they ask for when they return.

Explore Egersund at your own pace, with or without a guide.
Welcome to Egersund, one of Norway's best-preserved wooden villages. Wander through narrow streets with colourful wooden houses in soft earth tones, where every corner tells stories from hundreds of years ago. Fires and reconstruction have created an exciting mix of styles, from the medieval character of Hauen to the elegant late Empire facades of Strandgaten.

The trip you almost have to take when you're in Egersund.
A short but beautiful hike leads up to panoramic views of the city, harbour and surrounding landscape. Along the way, you'll pass fine trails, traces of war history and Bronze Age rock carvings at the foot of the mountain. It's a great hike for families, although pushing a pram can be challenging on the steepest sections.

Local flavours, intimate atmosphere and historic surroundings
Hauen Kro is housed in a former barn and pigsty and offers a warm and informal atmosphere with quality food made from good ingredients. Enjoy your lunch inside, or outside in the narrow alley in summer, surrounded by historic wooden houses and lively streets.

Outdoor activity in a popular hiking area.
Play a cosy round of frisbee golf among water, forest paths and open canals. The area is easily accessible from the city centre and is ideal for informal group activities. Frisbees can be hired locally.

A playful trip to one of the region's most famous rock formations.
Follow signposted trails through moon-like landscapes shaped by ice and magma. Trollpikken is a short and popular hike that is suitable for families and curious hikers. Parking and bike access are available nearby.

Experience local brewing traditions through guided tastings.
Visit one of Norway's oldest breweries and learn more about the production of beer, soft drinks and whisky. Tastings take place in the brewery or tasting centre and must be booked in advance. Best suited for adult groups.

Calm down and relax by the sea.
Enjoy a warm sauna experience in Egersund harbour, with space for small groups. A perfect way to end an active day.

End the day with great flavours and a quiet evening.
Eigra Kitchen & Bar offers a refined dining experience based on seasonal ingredients, combined with comfortable accommodation. A calm and cosy end to a day full of experiences. Bring friends, colleagues, business partners, family - whoever you want to share good food and drink with.
