Coastal pilgrimage site

Kystpilegrimsleia is a historic route that starts in Egersund and ends at Nidaros Cathedral in Trondheim.

The Coastal Pilgrimage Trail is a historic route both at sea and on land. This was the most commonly used pilgrimage route in the Middle Ages. It differs from the inland sites in that you have to combine different modes of transport.

The route offers fantastic nature experiences in wild and beautiful coastal areas with enormous historical and cultural values. It will be a journey that touches you, whether it's one day or several weeks.

Most people combine travelling along the Coastal Pilgrimage Route with boat, bus and hiking. Yes, even bicycles and kayaks can be used on some of the stretches. In April 2024, Crown Princess Mette Marit started walking the Coastal Pilgrimage Route from Egersund

The coastal pilgrimage trail is accessible and open all year round.
