Hellviksbolten is a large boulder wedged between two rock walls - a natural mini version of Kjeragbolten.
It's not as high and dramatic, but it's just exciting enough to make you feel a little sick to your stomach when you stand on it. Perfect for those who enjoy nature experiences that combine views and a bit of excitement, without having to go on a long mountain hike.
The tour starts at The moon cave at Hellvik. The entire trip is on a good trail. The terrain is gently undulating, rocky and surprisingly mountainous. Those who enjoy high-altitude hikes will be pleasantly surprised - here you get a sense of the mountains without having to climb them.
After around 2.8 kilometres, you'll reach Hellviksbolten itself. Here, the terrain opens up and you get a great view - while standing in front of a boulder that invites both photos and a little adrenaline.
For those with a fear of heights, there may be enough challenge in the air underfoot, and in windy periods it's important to tread carefully. When the wind picks up, sudden gusts can take you by surprise, so take it easy and keep your balance.
Although the wind can be brisk, Hellviksbolten is a great place to enjoy a coffee break. And chances are you'll meet other hikers who are just as enthusiastic - and might need help taking a memorable photo.
From Hellviksbolten you can continue towards Western Norway Main Road
