Experience the diversity of Stapnes - a coastal gem with history and nature
Stapnes offers varied experiences in a distinctive rocky coast, with heather moors and cultivated pastures. Explore Stapnes Fort from World War II, one of the first coastal forts built by the Germans, and enjoy fishing opportunities from the shore. For those with a taste for history, visit the restored mill building and the old stone vault bridge from the 18th century. With beautiful views, seating areas and cultural artefacts, Stapnes is a perfect place for both tranquillity and adventure.
Although the Eigersund coastline is long, it is not always accessible on foot. Parking is difficult to find in many places along the southern part of the coastline, and the ban on inland traffic is an obstacle. Eigersund Municipality has therefore purchased a car park here at Stapnes and entered into an agreement with the landowners for permission to mark some paths through the infield and up to the rocky coast.
It is emphasised that in the infield you are only allowed to travel on the marked paths.
