The rocking stone – can be moved by hand

Northern Europe's largest moving stone block of 74 tonnes

Next to the Blåfjellbanen, an old railway line, you will find a large moving stone called "Ruggesteinen". This is Northern Europe's largest moving stone block of 74 tonnes. See if you can move it by hand alone.

The stone is a shifting block that has been left behind by a glacier. Ruggesteinen was protected in 1923 as the first geological protection in Norway.

Access

Park at the bathing area in Linepollen and walk along the gravel road to Ruggesteinen.
If you want a longer trip, you can also go into Blåfjelldalen and visit the disused Blåfjell mines.
