Dyrøy

This accessible yet remote island

Dyrøya, a hidden gem at the end of the northern entrance to Egersund, is only accessible by boat and offers a unique experience for outdoor enthusiasts. Covered in coniferous forest and surrounded by dramatic rocky outcrops and steep cliffs, the island offers facilities such as a jetty, toilet, information board and mooring bollards. With its 180 acres, Dyrøya is a perfect area for nature enthusiasts, and is facilitated for visits with an easy landing stage and regular supervision during the summer season.

Since the early 1980s, Dyrøya has been an important part of outdoor life and is an active grazing area for wild sheep that help to maintain the coastal heathlands. Remember to keep your dog on a leash for the sheep's well-being, and enjoy the peaceful nature of this accessible yet remote island!
