Julian Haugland is a double bassist, composer, and bandleader. His playing style is clear and melodic, focusing on using the double bass as a singing solo instrument. Haugland's compositions consist of simple, singable melodies combined with advanced rhythms written for various acoustic ensembles. As a bandleader, he highly values the joy of live performances and the playful interaction between his fellow musicians.

In 2025, Haugland released «Learning», an album consisting of 7 original compositions, with musicians Rasmus Sørensen, Erlend Vangen Kongtorp, Amund Totland and Jongkuk Kim.
