Experience Sokndal through a good mix of mastery, excitement and beautiful mountains. Anorthosite and gneiss are both sustainable and solid igneous rocks that are ideal for climbing and bouldering. There are marked climbing routes throughout Magma Geopark, but especially in Eigersund and Sokndal.
You can also find many panes that are pre-bolted and ready to use. Steep lines give a full overview.
Via Ferrata Migaren is a climbing route along the mountainside in Jøssingfjord. This is named after the waterfall you have to cross along the way. The trip is partly on bolts in the mountains. The trip gives you an airy and unique view of Jøssingfjord. You can order climbing and climbing equipment from Jøssingfjord Witenmuseum.
Jøssingfjord Witenmuseum also offers indoor climbing opportunities with both bouldering and top rope. The climbing facility is open during the museum's opening hours and in the evenings on selected days.
Jøssingfjord is surrounded by steep mountainsides and is a paradise for rock climbers. The most popular climbing area is Profile Wall, which features one of the world's toughest traditional routes, Recovery Drink (8c+).
The first attempts to climb the wall were made in October 1993. The wall lies in the valley on the left, just after you come out of the tunnel. The approach takes about 20 minutes, and is easiest to do by staying all the way under the walls on the right edge.
