Hovland & Eng at Folkefonna

Premiere and release concert of a new, cross-artistic collaboration.

Bjørn Mattis Eng is a multi-musician and composer living in Southern Norway. Many people from Egersund have probably experienced his eminent trumpet playing – for example in connection with the Egersund Visefestival or the Dalane Bluesfestival.

Eng is responsible for the musical project "Folkefonna", which was performed to full houses in Kristiansand in the fall of 2025. Now the music is being taken into a new landscape through the collaboration with lyricist and Egersund native Ingvar Hovland. 

«This is a meeting of two expressions that complement each other in a very natural way,» says Eng. «Hovland’s lyrics open up new spaces in the music, and together we create something that is greater than the sum of its parts.»

«"Folkefonna" has now been recorded and will be released this fall by the record company Fonogram. The premiere and release will be at Egersund Kulturhus on Friday, September 11th at 7:00 PM!

In addition to Bjørn Mattis Eng on trumpet and Ingvar Hovland as narrator, there will be four other musicians (including a singer) and a dancer on stage.
