The summer exhibition AVGANG / DEPONI presents brand new artworks by 9 visual artists who have been on production stays at Velferden for the past three years.

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION:
The artists in the exhibition are: Anna Carin Hedberg, Ebba Moi, Hanna Sjöstrand, Linda Lamignan, Lisa Torell, Pierre Matte, Simon Daniel Tegnander Wenzel, Siri Austeen, Tove Kommedal.

The artists have worked closely with the landscape of Sokndal, based on personal encounters with large-scale mining interventions in nature. Since the start of the program in 2023, the artists have had the opportunity to meet researchers, local residents and representatives from the mining industry, which has contributed to a broad and nuanced understanding of the situation in the village. With many impressions and different perspectives as a basis, combined with their own references and strong artistic practice, works have been developed that are part of a complex exhibition on the theme AVGANG / DEPONI.

The exhibition consists of artistic expressions such as sound art, installation, painting, video, performance, sculpture and workshops. The exhibition is shown both indoors and outdoors at Sandbekk, as well as in a separate section in Jøssingfjord Science Museum. In addition to the works from the visual artists, there are also contributions from researchers and local experts.

The exhibition is open every weekend from June 6th to August 30th, Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 3pm.
